1. Does the rope speed change while coiling up/ unwinding the rope? For the first rope layer it doesn’t, of course. Rope speed increases with every additional rope layer in relation to drum diameter. (see diagram)
2. What does “nominal load” mean?Nominal load describes the load that the rope winch is capable of carrying in the first, that is, the lowest rope layer. The actual load diminishes with every additional rope layer in relation to drum diameter. (see diagram)
3. What about rope capacity?Rope capacity does not increase linear to the number of layers, so for example a drum with 3 layers can hold more than 3 times the storage of the first layer.4. Why do you use a grooved drum?A grooved drum improves proper coiling (passively).5. What does a pressure roller do?A pressure roller prevents the coiled up rope from uncoiling violently.6. In which cases would I use a traversing unit?Using a traversing unit means being able to actively guide the rope, which again improves proper coiling, especially that of big rope drums and heavy ropes.7. What’s the difference between winches according to BGV D8 and those according to BGV C1?BGV C1 winches have a permission to be used on stages and for scenic performances.
haacon delivers BGV D8 as standard, BGV C1 upon request.
8. Are haacon electric rope winches suitable for passenger transport according to VBG 35?No, the winches are not authorised for passenger transport.9. What is the difference between lifting winches and pulling winches?Lifting winches have to be equipped with a limit switch.10. Why is it that at least two layers have to remain on the drum at any time? All the rope clamp does is fixate the end of the rope when mounting the rope. The necessary holding force is generated by the two mounted rope layers.11. Is a rope included in delivery? No, the rope is not included in delivery except for when it is offered as accessory. Unless agreed otherwise, ropes are delivered lose.
2. What does “nominal load” mean?Nominal load describes the load that the rope winch is capable of carrying in the first, that is, the lowest rope layer. The actual load diminishes with every additional rope layer in relation to drum diameter. (see diagram)
